Our award-winning Field Maintenance team is committed to providing exceptional airport experiences, so Minnesota thrives. We are looking to add dedicated team members to keep the runways at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport clear for departure. In the winter months, this team clears snow from runways, taxiways, roadways, terminals, and public areas. When snow is not falling, Airport Maintenance Workers perform grounds keeping, mowing, trash removal, fence installation, concrete and asphalt repairs, and other duties that keep the airport looking great. Pay Differentials/Incentives include: +$0.60/hour for Class A CDL (or +$0.40/hour for Forklift Certification), +1.25/hour for 2nd Shift, +$2.00/hour for 3rd Shift. Shift assignments are bid twice each calendar year based on seniority. New employees typically start on the day shift for training before moving to their assigned shift. Overtime and longevity pay are also available. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a pre-employment drug screen.
Summary Of Duties
Primarily performs maintenance duties to FAA standards to maintain the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport’s airfields, grounds, and roadway maintenance functions. Work may be in close proximity to aircraft operations. Typical duties include snow and ice control on airfields and in public areas such as roadways and terminals, grounds keeping, concrete and asphalt pavement repairs, truck driving, mowing, weed control, fence installation and repair, garbage removal, and general cleanup of the airfield and public areas. Position Description
Snow and Ice Removal
Function as an equipment operator performing snow and ice removal using specialized snow removal equipment (e.g., multi-function equipment, runway snow blowers, runway plows and brooms, ramp push plows, tractors, sanders, chemical vehicles, and snow hauling vehicles). Perform manual snow removal duties.
Landscaping/Grounds Keeping
Perform skilled grounds keeping duties including landscaping, turf management, grading and rut filling, and weed control chemical applications. Plant, cut, and trim trees, shrubs, and flowering plants; install ornamental fixtures. Safely operate diesel-powered tractors with mower attachments, small tractors, riding mowers, and other landscaping equipment.
Bituminous and Concrete Repair
Repair runways, taxiways, aircraft aprons, parking ramps, parking lots, sidewalks, and roadways; perform joint seal repairs and concrete repairs; brick work as needed. Provide traffic control at work sites.
Fence, Sign and Gate Construction and Maintenance
Install, repair, and replace fencing, signs, and gates.
General Airport Cleaning
Clean runways, taxiways, aircraft parking areas, parking lots, and roadways; operate power sweepers, blowers, power washers, vacuums, etc.
Environmental Duties
Remove rubbish, inspect drainage, manage storm water controls, and assist with spill containment and cleanup.
General Duties
Operate radios and maintain contact with air traffic control; assist with training, equipment maintenance, and coordination with contractors and other personnel.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent Class A or Class B CDL with airbrake endorsement Satisfactory driving record Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods (including lifting up to 50 pounds) Ability to work outdoors in severe weather Clear communication skills Pass criminal history and background check and physical examination
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS Previous field maintenance or equipment operation experience at MSP or another airport Two years of experience operating commercial-rated vehicles, heavy equipment, and/or large agricultural machinery Snow removal operations experience Pavement maintenance experience (concrete/asphalt) Experience in commercial property, landscaping, or parks maintenance Experience with chemical applications related to grounds keeping
