What you’ll do for our patients
Collaborate with medical providers and medical assistants through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
Exercise professional judgment to provide health care services, which includes applying x‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups.
Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with medical providers and/or medical assistants with the examination and treatment of Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of urgent care centers. The RT supports medical providers, assistants, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
Job Requirements
Education
High School Diploma required
Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required
Work Experience
Experience in a clinical setting preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
Essential Functions
Responsible for x‑ray services as needed.
Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x‑ray services for patients by applying x‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients from newborn to elderly.
Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.
May need to push patient in a wheelchair.
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up on care.
Perform daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs for equipment troubleshooting, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.
Other Responsibilities
Collaborate with the ordering/treating provider to determine procedures or views that best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment.
Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answer their questions.
Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
Select proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high‑quality diagnostic images.
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning of X‑ray equipment, and manage necessary supplies.
Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks as required.
Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
Knowledge
Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X‑ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
Skills
Positioning patients properly for the X‑ray procedure.
Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
