Overview
The Customs Brokerage Specialist supports the Import Manager in customs brokerage activities to ensure compliance with U.S. customs laws and regulations and the company’s compliance programs. Responsibilities
Assist the Import Manager in audits and assessments of import compliance and customs laws and regulations. Process daily CHB entries, act as a customer advocate for high‑volume accounts, and serve as backup for import entry writers as needed. Conduct audits, troubleshoot, and monitor current CHB/CBP and OGA regulations to ensure compliance. Correct errors and provide corrective action and training. Assist in JSOX compliance. Maintain positive relationships with government agencies. Perform audits and report CHB entries, including air, ocean, and large key accounts. Assist in maintaining customer bonds and POAs. Develop and maintain current customer databases and regularly interact with customers and the Operations Compliance Department. Prepare post‑entry adjustments and other post‑entry documentation. Qualifications
High school diploma required; customs broker license required or working toward receiving it within 2 years. 3+ years’ experience in the customs broker industry required; 4‑year college degree preferred. Excellent customer service skills. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Independent and able to work under pressure in an unsupervised environment. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret verbal and written requests and directions. Ability to compose letters, memos, emails, and other written documentation clearly and concisely. Professional and cooperative presentation with internal and external customers, vendors, and government officials. Mathematical proficiency: add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rates, ratios, and percentages. Root‑cause analysis and solution development skills. Benefits
