Job Description Classification Title: Student Financial Aid CRD III.
Classification Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Student Financial Aid Coordinator III to join our team! This position plays a crucial role in administering financial aid for College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) students, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines while providing exceptional support to our student community.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the comprehensive financial aid process specific to CVM students, maintaining compliance with all relevant federal and university regulations. This includes processing applications, disbursing funds in a timely manner, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Conduct thorough reviews of weekly loan processing reports to identify discrepancies and resolve issues, thereby safeguarding the financial integrity of the aid process.
Assist in establishing federal loan programs tailored to the needs of CVM students.
Oversee the annual scholarship cycle by soliciting nominations, managing application reviews, and ensuring adherence to eligibility criteria while maintaining detailed records.
Collaborate with various departments to create new scholarship opportunities and promote them effectively, raising student awareness and participation.
Review and assess private loan requests from students, ensuring alignment with program requirements and addressing individual student needs effectively.
Advising and Student Support
Provide personalized guidance on financial aid eligibility through in-person meetings and phone consultations, addressing inquiries promptly via email and offering solutions to financial challenges.
Lead informative presentations and orientations for prospective, new, and returning CVM students, emphasizing available financial resources and the intricacies of the financial aid process.
Develop and facilitate workshops focused on financial literacy and debt management, empowering students to make informed financial decisions related to their education.
Collaborate on career and financial education programming for CVM students, contributing to their overall success.
Meet with staff regularly to review students' Satisfactory Academic Progress and identify those in need of assistance.
Other Duties
Act as the primary liaison between the Academic Office, the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Advancement Team, the University Bursar, and the University Registrar, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Develop annual financial aid cost of attendance budgets for CVM students, ensuring they reflect current program costs.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with financial aid trends, regulations, and best practices, enhancing the support provided to CVM students.
Operate a state vehicle in support of outreach.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Expected Salary $57,000 annually
