General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store and for the general operations and supervision of the Store when acting as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area, and executing and supervising Company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

Safety is the number one priority.

Maintain awareness on the sales floor and promptly correct or report unsafe conditions.

Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office, and armored carrier pickup.

Remove clutter and maintain clear egress to emergency exits.

Ensure customer safety, accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.

Test fire alarm systems and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.

Customer Service

Treat all customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.

Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.

Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.

Personal and Store Brand

Represent and support the Company brand at all times.

Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Dress Code.

Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.

Responsible for daily trash removal.

General Merchandising

Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns follow Company standards.

Handle merchandise receipt and processing with urgency.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.

Place merchandise on the sales floor when processed.

Secure and process back‑stock per Company policy.

Comply with monthly presentation guidelines.

Conduct floor moves, promotional signing, and re‑wraps as needed.

Loss Prevention

Comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong floor presence.

Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential information, and protect cash and merchandise.

Maintain the PVM system and conduct “Code 50” package inspections.

Execute Company Best Practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision and Operations

Train and coach Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and front‑end procedures.

Manage line pace, energy, and presence to expedite customer wait time.

Control Retail Associates’ break schedules for backups, lunches, and breaks.

Ensure equipment is working and supplies are adequate.

Expedite go‑backs, tagging, and ticketing for security compliance.

Teach “Scan and Bag” best practice and ensure salability of merchandise.

Fitting Rooms

Maintain and clean fitting rooms.

Audit and account for garment tags.

Ensure go‑back compliance—ticket, scan, nub, and tag merchandise.

Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager

Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits in line with Company policy.

Oversee front‑end controls during refunds, purchase approvals, and cash handling.

Manage payroll administration including punch edits, scheduling compliance, and payroll reporting.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

Excellent verbal communication.

Fluency in English.

Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.

Basic mathematical calculations for retail use.

Working evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC.

Spend up to 100 % of work time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.

Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.

Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.

Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.

Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibilities Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (where applicable).
