Software Development Senior Manager – Oracle

Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
Define and communicate a clear technical vision and roadmap that aligns with organizational goals.
Partner with product management, design, and other stakeholders to prioritize and deliver on key business objectives.
Lead planning and execution across multiple teams, balancing near‑term deliverables with long‑term strategic investments.
Establish metrics and KPIs to measure engineering productivity, product quality, and delivery performance.
People Management
Manage and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, fostering growth through feedback, coaching, and career development.
Build and scale high‑performing teams by hiring, onboarding, and retaining top talent.
Create a high‑performing and collaborative engineering culture that emphasizes innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.
Execution & Delivery
Oversee full software/hardware development lifecycle activities, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable solutions.
Implement best practices in architecture, design, testing, and deployment.
Anticipate and mitigate technical and organizational risks to ensure smooth project execution.
Drive continuous improvement in delivery speed, quality, and reliability.
Technical Excellence
Provide technical direction and guidance in areas such as system design, architecture, scalability, and performance optimization.
Encourage adoption of modern engineering practices, tools, and technologies.
Stay current with industry trends to guide technology strategy and innovation initiatives.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Product, Design, and Operations to align engineering output with customer and business needs.
Communicate program status, risks, and opportunities effectively to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Represent the engineering organization in strategic planning and decision‑making forums.
Qualifications
US Government TS/SCI with Polygraph (mandatory)
U.S. Citizenship – Federal Government customer
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS or related engineering field
5+ years of experience in software development/IT operations and engineering
2+ years of experience in developing/operating large‑scale distributed services
Experience with scripting and compiled languages (Java, Python, Bash) and RESTful API development
Experience managing a Linux environment, Docker, and distributed systems
Knowledge of Linux internals, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and socket programming
Knowledge of cloud compute technologies, network monitoring, data processing, and analytics
Aptitude to be a good team player and willingness to learn and implement new cloud technologies as needed
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Experience participating in an on‑call rotation and driving live site incidents to resolution
Experience with orchestration platforms such as Ansible, Oracle Automation Engine, Chef, or Puppet
