Job Summary
To assist the Director of Nursing with all departmental duties to ensure the facility residents receive safe, efficient, and compassionate care. Qualifications
Licensed Registered Nurse preferred Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with scheduling and assignment of nursing staff. Assist with nursing care on shift, as needed. Promote employee satisfaction by providing staff with the opportunity to express their concerns and resolve disputes. Assist in supervising the maintenance of facility medical records. Monitor staff compliance with policies, procedures, and nursing practice protocols (e.g., rounding, medication reviews, medication pass rounds, enteral feeding/medication pass, etc.). Evaluate performance of nursing staff during probationary periods, annually, and as needed. Ensure resident care needs are met and resident rights are protected. Supervise all admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents. Monitor the accuracy of medical record documentation. Assist with CQI processes and follow-up on identified issues. Coordinate mediation for residents/families and multidisciplinary teams to resolve care issues or complaints. Participate in quarterly CQI meetings and other assigned committees. Assist the DON in providing monthly in-service training to nursing staff and maintain training records. Assist with monthly chart audits and chart thinning. Coordinate monitoring of resident weights and dietitian recommendations. Coordinate pharmacy reviews and monitor recommendations. Assist with reviewing closed resident charts (discharges/deaths) for risk management issues. Obtain certification approval for oxygen therapy for residents. Assist with maintaining adequate staffing levels. Support employee counseling as needed. Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating department policies, procedures, and nurse practice protocols annually or as needed. Serve as Infection Control Nurse. Assist the investigative team with follow-up reviews and investigations of reports of abuse or other incidents. Coordinate fall prevention and response meetings.
