IP Docketing Specialist - Remote Option Available
Akerman LLP is seeking a full‑time Intellectual Property (IP) Patent Docketing Specialist to provide timely and effective docketing and administrative support to the Intellectual Property Group. The role is available remote and includes working with the USPTO, WIPO, and foreign partners.
Responsibilities
Review, docket, and distribute a high volume of incoming correspondence from the USPTO, WIPO, and foreign associates according to established procedures.
Review and update docket based on USPTO filing receipts, WIPO confirmations, and correspondence from foreign associates.
Update docket based on docket answers or instructions received from attorneys and paralegals.
Monitor the daily docket to ensure all deadlines are met.
Perform monthly status checks of pending US patent applications.
Manage incoming and outgoing transferred files.
Respond to internal inquiries and generate reports for the IP group.
Save correspondence in the document management system to maintain electronic files.
Required Skills
Working knowledge of US and international patent and trademark prosecution processes and their associated rules.
Analytical reasoning skills and ability to interpret rules and instructions accurately.
Excellent organizational and follow‑up skills.
Comfortable and efficient at calculating dates.
Detail‑oriented with the ability to perform routine tasks and maintain concentration for long periods.
Strong proofreading and meticulous work preparation.
Proficient with MS Office applications.
Six or more years of intellectual property experience in a law firm or legal services environment.
Prior IP docketing experience required; prior patent docketing experience preferred.
Experience using computer database programs, specifically FIP preferred.
Undergraduate degree preferred.
Compensation & Benefits Job Type: Full‑Time (40 hours per week) Salary Range: $82,000 – $95,000 (actual salary is based on experience and job qualifications). Bonus: Discretionary holiday bonus.
