We are seeking a Business Development Engineer to lead the initiation, management, and completion of customer projects and specification activities during the early stages of the design process. This role focuses on supporting growth market segments such as Battery Energy Storage Solutions and Data Centers. The ideal candidate will also take ownership of resolving technical challenges in emerging applications, helping to establish sustainable, long-term business relationships with key customers and partners. Additionally, this individual will serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and support to the broader Industrial Trade and Converting (ITC) sales team on complex application needs.
How you'll help the formula:
Establish a network of existing and new contacts to initiate new projects with focus customers/partners with the regional sales team.
Solve technical pain points and provide solutions during the consideration phase to increase the probability for a successful market entry.
Evaluate if existing products can fulfill the requirements or if new developments are needed.
Implement new tesa solutions at customer value chains and ensure a smooth SOP.
Understand and/or negotiate the product requirement profile, recommending the best possible solution, and building/executing the test program to prove a product’s worthiness for an application.
Transfer of projects and relationships of regular sales to Sales Specialists or Key Account Managers.
Meet or exceed KPI’s such as PNS (sales), ROS (profitability), pipeline management, OKR success rate, and contributions in project team. Other KPI’s may be used to measure the performance of this position.
Other duties as assigned.
Key elements for your role:
Four-year college degree in an engineering field – or higher degree.
5 years of working experience in sales, business development, or technical sales.
Communication and presentation skills, with ability to influence complex organizational structures.
Strong analytical skills / creative problem-solving capabilities. Ability to navigate complex business negotiations and develop contracts/supply agreements.
Must have a current, valid driver’s license, passport, and physical ability to drive for lengthy periods.
Able and willing to adapt own work schedule to satisfy customer needs while traveling via air/auto up to 50% of the time.
Skilled and proficient in use of computers to include but not limited to Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as ability to use CRM software programs.
