Position Summary The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. People management responsibilities include hiring, training, performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor oversees receiving, warehousing, and shipping of products to meet company service and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities and plan continuous improvement.

Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues.

Develop systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations; manage to meet productivity and service goals.

Implement and report on cost‑saving measures and suggest operational efficiencies.

Meet client KPI's and comply with quality system requirements.

Apply communication and motivational techniques, supervise, counsel, and discipline team members; support HR with hiring, training, and professional development.

Have overall training and evaluation responsibilities of warehouse staff.

Plan daily work schedule based on work orders and customer instructions; assign duties appropriately.

Review pending jobs, reorganize warehouse space, adjust supplies, equipment, or staffing levels.

Train new staff or delegate training; assess progress and assign additional duties.

Guide and advise staff on quantity and quality of work.

Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members and monitor progress.

Keep Manager advised of progress or problems; hold regular meetings to assess status and discuss improvement ideas.

Assist in physical operations as needed.

Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time.

Maintain high motivation to achieve customer satisfaction.

Provide ongoing growth and developmental opportunities; conduct annual performance reviews.

Support adherence to SOPs and train team members accordingly.

Skills & Abilities Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED.

3 years’ experience in logistics/distribution or related environment.

1 year supervisory experience.

Preferred: MHE certification or basic MHE operation knowledge.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

RF scanners.

WMS functions.

Language Skills

English (reading, writing, verbal).

Business communication.

Mathematical Skills

Basic to intermediate level for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related tasks.

Other Skills

Strong attention to detail, accuracy and timely task completion.

Good organizational and personnel skills.

Good communication skills, written and oral.

Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills.

Ability to work flexible schedules, nights and weekends as required.

Participate in cross‑training metrics activities and act as backup.

Effective adaptation to change in a fast‑paced environment.

Work overtime as dictated by business.

Work in unregulated warehouse temperatures (mild to moderate).
