We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic
Maintenance Manager
to lead all aspects of maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement at our 465,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Lumber Bridge, NC. This role is critical to ensuring operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and compliance with USDA, HACCP, and other regulatory standards. You will oversee a large maintenance team, manage budgets, drive performance, and lead capital and maintenance projects.
Key Responsibilities Facility Maintenance & Operations
Oversee all facility maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance programs.
Ensure efficient functioning of mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and negotiate service agreements to control costs.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 20 direct and 15 indirect maintenance personnel.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.
Budget & Performance Management
Monitor and manage maintenance budgets and KPIs, including cost per pound and M&R budget adherence.
Utilize tools such as Agristats for cost analysis and performance benchmarking.
Compliance & Safety
Implement and enforce safety programs and ensure compliance with USDA, HACCP, OSHA, and other relevant standards.
Ensure facility readiness for audits and inspections.
Project Oversight
Plan and manage weekend rebuilds, shutdowns, and equipment upgrades.
Coordinate with internal teams and M&R vendors for timely project execution.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
7+ years of progressive maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment (poultry or food processing preferred).
Proven success managing a shift or full maintenance operation in a high-volume production facility.
Strong financial acumen with experience analyzing maintenance costs and budget forecasting.
Advanced knowledge of HACCP, USDA sanitation, and pre-op guidelines.
1-3 years of refrigeration and electrical systems experience.
Technical Skills & Certifications
Must have experience managing a team (Direct: 2 / Indirect: 87)
Advanced knowledge of mechanical theory and master-level mechanic skills
General maintenance expertise including:
Welding
Pneumatics
Electrical wiring and controls
Motor controls
PLC troubleshooting and programming
