Area Supervisor – Ross Stores, Inc. Join our team! Ross Stores is a leading off‑price retailer with over 2,200 stores. As an Area Supervisor you’ll manage a specific area of the store, lead associates, and step in as Manager on Duty.

Key Responsibilities

Open and close the store and supervise associates across the floor.

Maintain safe and secure environments, including store security, EAS checks and emergency procedures.

Provide excellent customer service, treating all customers and associates with respect.

Represent the company brand, enforce dress code and keep the store clean, merchandised and compliant with appearance guidelines.

Oversee merchandising workflows: receiving, processing, returning items, back‑stock, floor moves and loss prevention.

Manage front‑end operations: cash registers, shortages, refunds and employee breaks.

Support administrative duties: cash pulls, bank deposits, payroll, scheduling and other tasks assigned by the Store Manager.

Guide associates on best practices such as “Scan and Bag” and “Code 50” inspections.

Maintain fitting‑room cleanliness and tag compliance.

Essential Functions

Safety – prioritize safe behaviours, report hazards and oversee removal of clutter.

Customer Service – demonstrate courtesy, professionalism and recognition.

Brand representation and appearance – maintain uniform appearance and enforce dress code.

Merchandising – ensure markdowns, receiving and presentation standards are met.

Loss Prevention – enforce Loss Prevention Awareness Programme and protect cash, credit and merchandise.

Front‑end – maximize productivity by coaching associates and maintaining equipment.

Fitting Rooms – ensure tagging, audits and go‑back compliance.

Administrative – coordinate cash pulls, deposits, payroll and scheduling.

Qualifications & Skills

Excellent verbal communication; fluency in English.

Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with POS equipment and applications.

Basic mathematical calculations for retail.

Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Must use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, PC and janitorial tools.

Stand, walk, move around, bend, squat, kneel, climb, lift up to 25 lb (30 lb for stockroom shifts).

Perform occasional pushes / pulls and use ladders and other equipment.
