Overview The Movable Bridge Unit in

Ft. Lauderdale, FL is looking for Bridge Design Engineers with interest and experience in Movable Bridge Design.

What We're Looking For

Mid-Level (4-10 years related Bridge Design Experience)

Senior Level (10+ years related Bridge Design)

At minimum a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from anABET accredited College or University

MS in Civil Engineering is Preferred

For experience level 4-10 yrs - be

within 6 months of obtaining a valid PE license

For experience level 10+ years - valid PEis required

What You'll Do

Knowledge of structural analysis design techniques, tools and principles.

Basic knowledge of computer assisted drafting and design.

Ability to use standard engineering analysis software.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisor, and other team members and

Ability to effectively receive and convey ideas and information orally and in writing with co-workers, project managers, supervisor, and other team members.

Review and check standard structural design calculations.

Perform limited structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using general analysis software, client-specific software and in-house programs under direct guidance from project managers and senior-level engineers.

Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans directly related to design work.

Prepare project-related documents and internal correspondence.

Perform and check quantity take-offs from contract plans.

Review and check basic structural and shop drawings.

Provide information for design reports.

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including field and construction services assignments.

Who we are: Movable Bridge Unit:

Focuses on the structural, mechanical, and electrical design of movable bridges of all types. Projects include new design of movable structures, structural, mechanical, and electrical inspection and rehabilitation of existing bridges. Our instrumentation group is housed in this unit and focuses on short term monitoring of bridges and other structures using a wide variety of gauges and instrumentation. Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers as well as CADD Technicians make up the staff of this unit.
