Mechanical Engineer - Movable Bridge Design (53637) Join Modjeski & Masters to work on complex, high-profile movable bridge projects at our Jacksonville, FL and Ft. Lauderdale offices. The role requires a valid Florida PE and focuses on mechanical systems that combine engineering ingenuity with structural excellence.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.

Registered Professional Engineer, preferably in Florida.

Experience designing and inspecting movable bridge machinery in accordance with AASHTO and AREMA standards.

What You’ll Do

Perform mechanical design and detailing of bridge machinery; prepare contract plans, specifications, and estimates, including hydraulic systems.

Conduct field inspections of mechanical systems on movable bridges.

Execute CADD work to aid plan development; design in 3D environments such as Inventor and in 2D AutoCAD.

Develop effective presentation, technical writing, and networking skills.

Assist in pursuing new work and fostering relationships with DOTs, other agencies, and engineering firms.

Undertake a mix of office and field work across multiple concurrent projects.

Perform tasks at heights when required.
