Vice President, Medical & Scientific Affairs
We are seeking an accomplished and forward‑thinking Vice President, Medical & Scientific Affairs to lead the medical strategy, scientific direction, and external engagement efforts for a global diagnostics portfolio. This executive will shape how scientific insights translate into clinical applications, partner closely with R&D and commercial teams, and serve as a visible ambassador to the infectious disease and diagnostics community.
This is a highly influential leadership role responsible for defining medical strategy, driving evidence generation, and ensuring our solutions meet the evolving needs of clinicians, laboratories, and patients worldwide.
Key Responsibilities Medical & Scientific Leadership
Provide strategic leadership for all Medical & Scientific Affairs activities, including clinical application development, evidence generation, medical communications, and scientific insights.
Serve as a senior medical voice across the organization, guiding the translation of emerging science into diagnostic products, workflows, and clinical value.
Oversee medical risk management, post‑market safety, and the scientific accuracy of all medical content and customer‑facing materials.
Partner with R&D and Innovation teams to inform early‑stage development, assess feasibility of new applications, and influence product strategy.
KOL & External Engagement
Build deep, lasting relationships with medical experts, laboratorians, pathologists, and other scientific leaders globally.
Represent the company at medical congresses, advisory boards, scientific exchanges, and external forums.
Incorporate key medical insights, competitor intelligence, evolving clinical guidelines, and unmet needs into strategic planning.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Quality, and Clinical Development teams to ensure aligned and impactful medical strategies.
Support commercial and market access efforts by developing compelling evidence, clinical narratives, and training resources.
Partner with business area GMs and platform leaders to accelerate adoption and utilization of products and solutions.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing Medical & Scientific Affairs organization.
Establish clear strategic priorities, ensure operational excellence, and cultivate a culture of scientific rigor, integrity, and collaboration.
Manage internal teams and external vendors supporting medical affairs programs and field medical initiatives.
Ideal Experience & Qualifications
MD or PhD required.
10+ years of progressive medical affairs or scientific leadership experience within academia, diagnostics, biotech, pharma, or government sectors.
Experience contributing to or leading product development, evidence generation, and clinical/medical strategy.
Proven track record of engaging and influencing KOLs, academic research leaders, and clinical stakeholders.
Strong understanding of clinical trials, real‑world evidence, and biostatistical principles.
Background in both academic and industry settings is advantageous.
Exceptional communication skills and ability to simplify complex medical and scientific concepts.
Demonstrated ability to build and lead high‑performing teams.
