Senior Manager, Accounting
Location: Lexington, MA (Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite required: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Salary: $140,000–$160,000 + bonus + equity. Company does not sponsor.
Overview Join our client’s high‑performing finance team in Lexington, MA as the Senior Manager, Accounting — the #2 to the Controller and natural successor for the Assistant Controller title. You’ll own the full monthly close, manage a team of 3, and drive AP, AR, payroll, reporting, and audit prep in a hybrid role.

Responsibilities Own the full monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close process – accurate, fast, GAAP compliant. Manage AP, AR, payroll (global oversight), Concur expenses, and general accounting. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3 accounting professionals. Perform and review reconciliations, journal entries, and flux analysis. Drive audit preparation and serve as primary contact for external auditors and tax teams. Strengthen internal controls and documentation across financial reporting. Partner on budgeting, forecasting, and ad‑hoc analysis as needed. Identify and implement process improvements, including system upgrades and reporting automation. Serve as backup for payroll and Concur processing.
Qualifications 8–10+ years progressive accounting experience with staff management. Bachelor’s in Accounting; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred. Industry: Life sciences / medical device preferred; public company experience a plus. Technical skills: Strong SAP, Concur, UKG a plus; advanced Excel required. Knowledge: Deep GAAP, inventory/COGS, technical accounting, and financial reporting. Skills: Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication abilities; can present to executives and train staff. Mindset: Detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven, thrives in a fast‑paced public company environment. Location: Local to Lexington, MA for hybrid schedule.
