About the Role We are working with a Blue‑Chip Company here in Orange County as they search for a high‑caliber Finance Director to oversee financial planning and analysis of a business unit for a multi‑billion‑dollar organization. This individual will partner directly with senior leadership and manage a growing team. Their ideal candidate must come from a large company in the multi‑location, retail, manufacturing, or distribution industry.

Responsibilities

Lead the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long‑range planning cycles.

Provide KPI reporting, margin analysis, and clear operational dashboards for leadership.

Evaluate financial performance by reviewing trends, variances, and project profitability.

Develop financial models to support pricing, inventory planning, job costing, and resource allocation.

Oversee monthly and quarterly reporting activities while ensuring accuracy and GAAP compliance.

Partner with operations leaders to assess project performance, backlog, revenue recognition, labor utilization, and material costs.

Improve forecasting methods, job‑cost visibility, and overall margin optimization.

Collaborate with the Controller and accounting team to validate results and streamline the closing process.

Act as a strategic partner to the General Manager, Regional President, and executive leadership.

Support company‑wide initiatives involving technology, purchasing, and operational best practices.

Assist with integration efforts, process improvements, and organizational scaling.

Lead ROI analyses for capital investments, system enhancements, and new business opportunities.

Lead and mentor a small finance and accounting team.

Establish a culture of performance, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Partner effectively with project managers, operations, purchasing, and shared services teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent directly related work experience.

Large company experience is required (Annual Revenue of $1B+).

Multi‑Location, Retail, Manufacturing, or Distribution industry experience is required.

Public accounting experience preferred.

Systems experience such as Power BI, Anaplan, Adaptive, SAP, MS Dynamics 365, NetSuite, Sage 300, Acumatica, Oracle, Workday, MS Business Central, JD Edwards, MS Dynamics GP or Intacct all deemed good.

Eye for details – attention to quality and accuracy is of paramount importance in this role.
