Position Overview Our client in Woburn, Ma is looking for a Payroll Administrator / Accountant who will report directly to the Corporate Controller and will be involved in all areas of payroll and accounting. Initial responsibilities focus on preparing and processing bi-weekly, multi-state payroll using ADP Workforce Now and a time and attendance system. The role also provides support to leadership and HR and will expand to include daily accounting operations once payroll processes are fully mastered.

Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration

Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule.

Maintain payroll data, including new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.

Reconcile payroll prior to submission and validate all reports.

Review and verify employee timesheets for compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.

Audit computed wages and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate earnings.

Manage benefit deductions, including 401(k), and maintain related records.

Assist with annual filings, including 5500 and 401(k) non-discrimination testing.

Administer garnishments, benefit deductions, PTO accruals, and payouts.

Prepare payroll-related reports, journal entries, and workers' compensation documentation.

Respond to Verification of Employment requests and employee payroll inquiries.

Reconcile payroll bank statements and confirm accurate deductions.

Review labor distribution reports and validate hours for accounting entries.

General Accounting Support

Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

Assist with accounting, finance operations, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

10+ years of payroll processing experience using ADP or a comparable payroll system.

Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Broad understanding of accounting principles and procedures.

FPC or CPP certification is a plus.
