The selected candidate

Hands‑on design and implementation of scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions aligned with Azure Well‑Architected Framework (WAF) pillars.

Accountable for a suite of data models with relatively high complexity, leveraging a strong understanding of data modelling standards to ensure high quality.

Drive best practices for data security, data privacy, and data integrity.

Ensure the reliability and efficiency of data infrastructure in the Azure cloud.

Understand AI‑driven data engineering tools and work on building cutting‑edge AI‑ready use cases.

Collaborate across departments to define and deliver business value, and interface with program teams, management, and stakeholders to deliver large, complex projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

Lead production of high‑quality data engineering deliverables, ensuring project timelines are met and mentoring junior team members.

Design, develop, and implement ETL processes to load data from disparate sources into analytics‑ready formats, reviewing deliverables for quality.

Define future‑state data architectures aligned with industry best practices and organizational needs.

Develop Data Architecture strategy and assess enterprise data architecture, providing recommendations.

Translate requirements, design, and solution architecture into detailed specifications.

Implement data management strategies that align with business objectives.

Lead data quality reviews, including cleansing and integration, and resolve related issues.

Provide technical leadership to maximize efficiency, reliability, and value from current data engineering processes.

Monitor industry trends such as cloud computing and distributed processing to assess potential impacts.

Research and identify new product opportunities from emerging technologies.

Collaborate with peers across engineering to develop leading data engineering solutions.

Ensure adherence to data engineering and modeling processes, procedures, and standards.

Skills and Attributes for Success

Design and implement data architecture solutions meeting organizational needs using Azure Well‑Architected Framework pillars.

Create Azure Infrastructure Architecture Diagrams (IAD) that clearly represent architecture.

Design efficient extraction of high‑volume structured and unstructured data with automated CDC.

Design ingestion strategy for batch and stream processing of transaction system data.

Build data processing models, including validation, quality, and profiling.

Design and produce complex data models with sound standards.

Design data storage models and data migration strategies.

Implement data consumption mechanisms via APIs, virtualization, and visualization tools.

Implement data governance—including catalogue, lineage, classification, MDM, and exploration.

Design authentication and authorization methods to ensure security.

Manage data integration strategies including ETL processes.

Required Technical Skills

Hands‑on experience building data architecture using patterns such as Data Mesh, Data Fabric, Data Lakehouse, Data Observability, and Data as a Service (DaaS).

Proficiency in Azure services (Data Lake, SQL Database, Synapse Analytics).

Experience building data orchestration with Azure Data Factory, Function App, and Logic App.

Proficient in SQL; familiar with Python and Java.

Extensive experience with Databricks performance optimization.

Design and build data platforms integrating disparate sources.

Experience designing authentication and authorization methods for data security.

Expertise in MPP design to accelerate performance of large databases.

Expertise in Azure, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Spark.

Experience developing dataflows using NiFi/ADF Databricks.

Hands‑on Spark architecture and implementation.

Experience with distributed message systems like Kafka.

Hands‑on Python, PySpark or R.

Expert in complex SQL query and procedure creation.

Understanding of big data and distributed architecture.

Experience creating ingestion workflows using Oozie or similar tools.

Knowledge of security measures such as HTTPS and Kerberos.

Beneficial Technical Skills

Azure Data Lake Store, Databricks Delta Lake.

Experience with NoSQL databases.

Advanced analytics, ML, and AI.

Knowledge of graph databases like Neo4J, CosmosDB.

Experience developing microservices.

Education

B.E. / M.S. in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, IT, or related field preferred.

Big Data certification (Cloudera/Hortonworks/Databricks).

What We Offer You The compensation ranges below comply with United States pay transparency laws. Other geographies follow local guidelines.

Comprehensive compensation and benefits package based on performance.

Base salary range (US): $145,500 – $280,000. New York City, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento): $174,500 – $318,200.

Medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off.

Hybrid working model: most external client‑serving roles work in person 40–60% of the time.

Flexible vacation policy based on personal circumstances, plus EY Paid Holidays and various leaves of absence.
