About the Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Lab at Boston Medical Center:
The Electrophysiology Registered Nurse functions as a member of the Electrophysiology patient care team that includes registered nurses, Electrophysiology Cardiovascular Technologists, nurse practitioners, cardiology fellows and faculty physicians. This individual is responsible for helping to develop and implement systems to assure the smooth and efficient flow of patients for procedures in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab. Duties include but are not limited to the patient assessment, administration of medications, moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, circulating during EP procedures and other procedures scheduled in our invasive procedure labs. This position also assists in pre and post patient assessment and patient care, patient and family teaching, during the invasive procedures. This individual is able to demonstrate clinical expertise in working with electrophysiology patients during invasive diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology, and device implantation procedures.

Job Responsibilities
Deliver nursing care in the Perioperative Services unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
Update and manage patient records
Enter and interpret computerized data/information
Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
Job Requirements
Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
1+ years of RN experience preferred
Certification in basic life support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
Basic computer proficiency
Fluency in another language a plus
Additional Requirements
Current (within 2 years) ICU experience required.
Previous Electrophysiology (EP) experience strongly preferred.
Previous Moderate Sedation experience strongly preferred.
Prior EP experience is strongly preferred and beneficial.
