About the Perioperative Services/IR Cath Lab Department at Boston Medical Center The new Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology (EP) and Interventional Radiology labs are part of the Integrated Procedural Platform (IPP) on the 2nd floor of the Menino building. All of the procedural areas will perform diagnostic as well as interventional procedures. Cardiac Cath Lab procedures include complex coronary artery revascularization, invasive physiologic and hemodynamic assessments, and minimally invasive structural heart disease interventions, including percutaneous valve replacement and repairs. The Electrophysiology Lab performs EP studies, ablations, and pacemaker/defibrillator implantations. Interventional Radiology encompasses the widest range of procedures performed by multiple services including radiology, neuro‑radiology and vascular surgery.

Position Summary As an RN in the Perioperative Services, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient‑centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Job Responsibilities

Deliver nursing care in the Perioperative Services unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients

Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families

Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter‑professional colleagues

Update and manage patient records

Enter and interpret computerized data/information

Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization

Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Job Requirements

Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

1+ years of RN experience preferred

Certification in basic life support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required in certain units

Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years

Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Physical ability to meet job responsibilities

Basic computer proficiency

Fluency in another language a plus

ICU experience required

Moderate sedation experience required

Cath Lab and/or IR experience strongly preferred.

Procedural experience strongly preferred.

Compensation Range $38.05–$75.33

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
