Assistant Project Manager - FL

(Vensure Employer Solutions) Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager will provide support to Project Managers and Superintendents for the timely completion of projects, ensuring construction is conducted in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes. The role includes scheduling all subcontractors, consultants, and vendors, ensuring their work is completed within budget and time constraints, coordinating field work, and communicating any conflicts or revisions to the project team for mutual resolution before execution deviates from approved plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Liaise with a complex team of architects, designers, planners, consultants, city officials, and contractors.

Ensure projects are managed and completed satisfactorily, meeting all criteria and staying within budget timelines and costs.

Manage scheduling, budgeting, staffing, and project set‑up with sub‑consultants, vendors, and contractors.

Guarantee design conforms to contractual agreements with clients.

Deliver fully operational projects on time and on budget.

Oversee multiple in‑progress projects.

Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors on the critical path to ensure timely completion.

Communicate with project team regarding ASI’s, RFI’s, and material submittals.

Approve take‑offs from the estimating department.

Attend OAC meetings as required.

Ensure subcontractors fully execute and comply with their contracted scope of work.

Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.

Identify subcontractor non‑compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.

Identify progress conflicts and communicate them to the project team for resolution.

Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings to coordinate work.

Issue notices of non‑compliance to subcontractors regarding quality or scheduling.

Perform punch list identification and completion of job progress and completion tasks.

Secondary Functions

Assist in budgeting and bidding of subcontracts.

Assist in obtaining permits or approval of revisions.

Gather project material submittals and maintain records of approvals at the job site.

Identify work outside of subcontracted scope.

Preside at pre‑construction meetings with each subcontractor.

Ensure design conforms to contractual agreement with owner.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Provide direction to and resolve problems among 30+ subcontractors and vendors.

Identify deficient work and provide resolution.

Communicate via telephone, fax, written logs, email, computer, Blackberry, and digital camera.

Read and interpret blueprints.

Physically lift up to 100 lbs.

Endurance to visit the entire site, including stairs or elevated structures.

Monitor general job‑site health and safety.

Customer service skills – manage difficult or emotional customers, respond promptly and solicit feedback.

Interpersonal skills – solve conflict, maintain confidentiality, listen actively, and remain open to new ideas.

Oral communication – speak clearly and persuasively, listen, and present in meetings.

Work at a construction site, both indoors and outdoors.

May require overtime to meet deadlines.

Stand and walk regularly; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Talk or hear as needed.

Occasional sitting.

Occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.

Education & Experience

Construction management: minimum 3 years (required).

Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience, thorough knowledge of trades, and computer literacy.

Experience in tract housing and multifamily production preferred.

Office experience with Master Builder, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project & Outlook) is also preferred.
