Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Washington, DC (near Union Market)
About the Role We’re seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing organization and take ownership of the accounting function. This is a pivotal role reporting directly to the Owner/President, with a clear growth path to Head of Accounting as the current Controller transitions to part-time.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate job coding
Perform bank reconciliations and deposits
Process payroll and allocate job costs (~40 to 70 employees)
Handle union payroll and monthly reconciliation
Monitor positive pay and daily bank transactions
What We’re Looking For
Experience: 6+ years in accounting
Education: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred
Strong integrity and ability to communicate confidently with employees and leadership
Must be capable of functioning beyond bookkeeping—this role reports directly to ownership
Industry experience is not required
Familiarity with Deltek Computer-EZ is a plus
Interview Process

Final meeting with Owner and VP
Background and credit check required
