Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR INSPECTIONS

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.

Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time‑management and deadline‑meeting skills are essential. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties, and to do this they send out independent contractors. The purpose of the property inspection is:

To verify property occupancy.

To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

We contract with inspectors at a county level, meaning you would be responsible for completing all inspections in your county. In some cases, you may split the county with another inspector if volume allows.

Responsibilities

Most common inspection should only take 5–6 minutes.

Complete the inspection within 4 days after assignment.

Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.

Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.

Complete a short form in an app.

Be able to spend extended periods driving, making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

Requirements

Computer with internet connection

Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage a plus as you pay for your own gas)

Smartphone (Android or iPhone)

Printer

Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license

Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.

Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month.

Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
