FAR INSPECTIONS
Overview
FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated independent contractors to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. The role offers full-time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule, based in Reno, NV. Prior mortgage inspection experience is not required; strong time management and deadline adherence are essential.
What Is an Occupancy Verification?
Verify property occupancy.
Report the general condition of the property via a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior-only, with ~10% requiring interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Inspectors are responsible for all assignments within their county and may split the county with another inspector when volume warrants.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
Submit the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Enter a short form in the app.
Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage preferred; you pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check with a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 contractor position. Each inspection is paid at a flat rate that varies by county and volume. The role can earn the equivalent of
$30–$40 per hour . Depending on county, you may perform 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates; higher‑volume counties offer lower rates. Earnings increase as you establish yourself, gain availability, or cover a larger territory. Mileage is reimbursed only via the flat inspection fee; no additional mileage reimbursement is provided.
