Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders in Reno, NV. This independent contractor position offers predictable income, a flexible schedule, and no prior inspection experience required.
What is an Occupancy Verification?
Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors to verify occupancy and assess general condition using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after vacancy.
Responsibilities
Perform most inspections in approximately 5–6 minutes.
Complete each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the app.
Spend extended periods driving and making multiple stops within the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage important as you pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Earnings are roughly $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and urban/rural location, you may complete 20–500 inspections per month while working 2–30 hours per week. There is no set minimum, but volume is consistent month to month.
Earn more as you become established, increase availability, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
