Description of Work The Director will be responsible for the daily operation of the School of Nursing and its programs, promoting excellence through leadership, mentoring, and vision. Responsibilities include professional duties requiring leadership and mentoring of faculty, administrative expertise to include vision, long‑term and short‑term planning, decision‑making, and coordination of instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The administrator must have a strong ability to build a faculty and staff committed to preparing a diverse workforce, extend educational opportunities to students from all backgrounds, and engage communities of interest to strengthen partnerships with healthcare systems and clinical partners. They will recruit, support, and retain faculty; collaborate across disciplines; promote nursing research, education, and service; conduct program evaluation and accreditation; expand programming; build external partnerships; and lead development initiatives. This is a full‑time administrative position.

Minimum Experience/Education UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to an earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

Eligible for RN licensure in North Carolina.

Graduate degree in nursing and a PhD in nursing or a closely related field; preference for PhD in Nursing.

Eligibility for appointment as a tenured professor.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience in curricular evaluation and accreditation.

Significant experience in nursing leadership, education, and practice.

Outstanding record of scholarship.

Demonstrated commitment to building a strong community across academic silos.

Skills in managing financial resources, personnel, contracts, agreements, and cohort expansion.

Faculty development and retention, curriculum development, course schedule planning, and budget development.

Ability to articulate a vision and strategic direction for academic programs.

Necessary Licenses / Certifications PhD in Nursing or related field and eligibility for RN licensure in North Carolina.
