FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and therefore send out independent contractors. The purpose of the property inspection is to:
verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
Finish each inspection within 4 days of assignment.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in the app.
Spend extended periods driving and making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
Requirements (you must have the following)
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates and higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month to month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement is available beyond the flat fee per inspection.
