University Human Resources Chief Business Officer
The University of Georgia (UGA) is seeking a Chief Business Officer (CBO) to serve as the senior financial and administrative leader for the University Human Resources (UHR) Organization and the UGA ERP modernization initiative. Position Summary
The CBO provides strategic financial leadership, manages day‑to‑day fiscal operations for UHR, directs the 3‑4 year ERP project fiscal planning and reporting, and ensures compliance with university and sponsor policies. Key Responsibilities
Oversee all UHR financial operations, including budget development, forecasting, and expenditure management. Develop and implement financial policies and internal controls to ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. Serve as principal advisor to the Vice President for UHR on fiscal planning, workforce budgeting, and resource utilization. Lead procurement, contract review, and financial reporting in collaboration with central finance, foundation, and procurement offices. Lead annual budget submissions, variance analyses, and long‑term financial modeling for UHR operations and strategic initiatives. Serve as fiscal lead for the ERP implementation: manage budget formulation, monitor and report project‑related funds, coordinate financial planning across workstreams, develop dashboards and reports, manage contracts and vendor payments, provide risk assessments and recommendations, and represent UHR and ERP project on university‑wide committees. Supervise business and financial staff supporting UHR and ERP operations, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent. Minimum of 12 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years of supervisory experience. Preferred: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in financial management within higher education or a large, complex organization. Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for multi‑unit or project‑based operations. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and fiscal compliance. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. Proven ability to lead and develop professional staff and to work collaboratively across diverse teams. Experience managing finances for enterprise technology projects or ERP system implementations. Familiarity with higher education financial systems and fund accounting. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
