Vannin Chief of Staff
Vannin Chief of Staff has been retained on an exciting new search for the Chief of Staff to the CEO. Our client is a premier global alternative credit manager with multi‑billion dollar assets under management, specializing in providing flexible capital solutions to mid‑market and large‑cap companies. With a 30+ year track record, the firm has established itself as a trusted partner to private equity sponsors and corporate borrowers across multiple industries, demonstrating consistent performance through various market cycles.
The platform operates across multiple geographies with several hundred employees and maintains a founder‑led culture characterized by intellectual rigor, operational excellence, and disciplined execution. The firm is entering a strategic inflection point as leadership prepares for the next phase of growth and organizational evolution and is seeking a Chief of Staff to act as a trusted partner to the CEO.
This will be a full‑time, exempt position based in‑office in New York City.
Responsibilities Strategic Execution & CEO Partnership
Increase the CEO's efficiency and effectiveness by keeping multiple workstreams on track even when there are competing priorities
Own end‑to‑end execution of mission‑critical strategic initiatives on behalf of the CEO
Drive complex, cross‑functional projects from conception through implementation, ensuring accountability and follow‑through
Serve as a thought partner to the CEO on key business decisions and strategic priorities
Bring external best practices from prior Chief of Staff roles to establish operating rhythms, planning processes, and decision‑making frameworks
Executive Office Management & Operations
Manage the CEO's priorities, information flow, and Executive Office operations to maximize effectiveness
Enhance the effectiveness of key meetings by setting agendas and driving high‑quality content and output, including preparation and follow‑ups
Facilitate and lead meetings on behalf of the CEO as required; represent the CEO's voice and perspective across the organization
Prepare important trips and meetings (local, domestic, and international)
Handle sensitive projects and confidential matters with utmost discretion
Communications & Writing
Produce high‑quality written materials on behalf of the CEO, including internal communications, board materials, memos, and executive presentations that adhere to firm style standards
Communicate on behalf of the CEO to internal and external parties, channeling his voice and understanding how to convey messages appropriately
Lead the preparation and development of executive presentations, including all‑hands meetings, internal and external speaking engagements, offsites, and events
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Serve as a trusted liaison between the CEO and key internal and external stakeholders
Build strong relationships across the leadership team and broader organization to drive alignment and execution
Represent the firm in critical relationships with key business partners and, when needed, manage their access to the CEO
Support board meeting preparation, attend board meetings, and coordinate governance matters as needed
Maintain strong working relationship with the CEO's Executive Assistant to ensure seamless collaboration
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; JD or MBA from top‑tier graduate program (Ivy League or equivalent) strongly preferred
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in operational leadership, business management, or strategy roles
Must have prior Chief of Staff experience supporting a senior executive (CEO, founder, or equivalent), ideally in financial services, investment management, or private equity
Deep understanding of investment management, credit markets, or private equity required – must be able to engage credibly with investment professionals and understand the firm's business model
Core Competencies
Exceptional intellectual horsepower with ability to quickly synthesize complex financial and strategic issues
Outstanding written communication skills – must be a polished, detailed writer capable of producing CEO‑level memos and materials that adhere to specific style guidelines and formatting standards
Expert project management capabilities and proven ability to own initiatives from start to finish with exemplary follow‑through, exceptional attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines
Process‑oriented mindset with demonstrated ability to build systems, maintain rigorous tracking (including daily checklists), and drive accountability across organizations
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on frameworks and structured thinking
Presence and gravitas to represent the CEO with board members, investors, founders, C‑suite executives, and external stakeholders
High executive presence and capable of engaging effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders in a professional and diplomatic manner

Compensation Range
Base compensation $375‑425K/yr + additional elements and discretionary awards
