The Physician Program Director (PPD) focuses on establishing formal Impella programs through relationships with account stakeholders and KOLs within hemodynamic support. KOL Engagement
Develop and manage strategic relationships with key opinion leaders and subject matter experts to support scientific, medical, and commercial goals. Represent Abiomed across the field and connect hospitals to internal resources (medical office, research, marketing, executive teams). Program Resourcing
Collaborate with hospitals and administrators to identify program efficiencies, implement best practices, develop protocols, and improve workflows for long-term sustainability. Identify program gaps and align internal resources to support hospital goals. Work with systems of care and IDNs to implement best practices across hospitals within the system. Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive KOL engagement strategy aligned with brand and therapeutic objectives. Build sustainable relationships with designated accounts, health systems, KOLs, and stakeholders to advance Impella programs and outcomes. Understand hospital market dynamics, uncover gaps in operational efficiency and patient care, and deploy tools to reach more patients. Present complex health economic information to diverse groups in an engaging, credible manner. Advocate for heart recovery programs with health system administration and hospital leadership to gain project alignment. Identify and develop new KOLs through visits, HQ programs, regional education, and local programs. Serve as a corporate liaison between KOLs, IDNs, healthcare system leaders, and Abiomed’s executive team; collaborate cross-functionally to align initiatives; facilitate key customer meetings at major medical tradeshows. Communicate with sales and Abiomed leadership as required. Job Qualifications
BA/BS required; MBA or MS preferred. 4+ years of sales experience within Abiomed or >7 years of related industry sales with proven success. Prior KOL management experience or existing relationships in the geographic area. Experience collaborating with C-Suite hospital administrators and with leaders of IDNs or systems of care. Ability to travel overnight extensively (approximately 70% depending on geography). Strong understanding of US health care policy and reimbursement systems. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with strong presentation abilities. Strategic thinking balanced with detailed planning and execution; ability to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated project management capability; ability to drive initiatives to completion. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentations; knowledge of cardiac anatomy and clinical data. The expected base pay range is
