General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors handle opening and closing, supervise associates, maintain merchandise presentation, keep the store clean, and execute company operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

Safety is a priority and safe behaviors are practiced in all activities.

Maintain awareness on the sales floor, correct or report unsafe conditions, and ensure customer safety.

Secure building, control entry/exit, check EAS devices, secure cash office, and manage armored carrier pick‑ups.

Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.

Test all fire alarm systems and respond to after‑hours alarms.

Customer Service

Treat customers, associates, and leaders with respect.

Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize associates with company recognition programs.

Personal and Store Brand

Represent and support the company brand at all times.

Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code and ensure associates do the same.

Keep all areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.

Handle daily trash removal.

General Merchandising

Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns follow company standards.

Process merchandise with urgency and manage receiving of merchandise trucks.

Handle inbound non‑merchandise deliveries.

Maintain and organize stockrooms and help deploy merchandise on the sales floor.

Prevent loss due to damage and comply with monthly presentation guidelines.

Manage floor moves and promotional signing.

Loss Prevention

Follow the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a strong presence on the sales floor.

Safeguard confidential information and cash.

Maintain the PVM system.

Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.

Execute best practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision And Operations

Guide associates through front‑end procedures, training on cash registers and shortage control.

Maintain store pace, energy, and customer service standards.

Control associate break schedules and manage equipment and supplies.

Ensure go‑backs are processed correctly.

Teach “Scan and Bag” best practice and support front‑end salability.

Fitting Rooms

Maintain cleanliness and audit garment tags.

Ensure compliance with go‑back procedures.

Administrative Duties As Assigned By Store Manager

Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits.

Administer payroll, punches, scheduling compliance, and Sunday payroll transmission.

Other duties as directed by the store manager.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Fluency in English.

Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.

Basic mathematical calculations for retail environments.

Availability for evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Use all store equipment, registers, and PCs.

Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.

Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.

Pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 25 lbs occasionally.

Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and assigned supplies.

Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Retail associates.

Stockroom leads (where applicable).

Compensation And Benefits The base pay range for this role is $16.50 – $17.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

Associates in stores and exempt corporate and buying office roles also receive a bonus based on individual and business performance.
