Registered Nurse II Part Time - 7East Medical Care Unit with sign-on bonus of $9,000. 7 East is a 50-bed Pediatric Medical Care Unit serving patients from newborn to teens. The unit is fast-paced, collaborative, and values teamwork, respect, and support. We seek smart, enthusiastic professionals committed to making a difference in pediatric care, with a focus on professional growth and work-life balance. All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, Children’s National Policies and Procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires RNs to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. Children’s National supports development of RN relationships within the community and health and well-being of the community at large. Responsibilities

Transformational Leadership: Contribute to Magnet re-designation, update professional profile, and participate in councils, committees, task forces, or community outreach. Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving during patient care; communicate to reflect plan of care and advocate for patient needs. Independently escalate issues using the chain of command and ensure proper hand-off processes. Collaborate respectfully with ancillary staff and participate in change management to support management decisions. Model empathetic, patient- and family-centered care; demonstrate professionalism and teamwork within the healthcare team. Structural Empowerment: Maintain regulatory requirements (e.g., license, BLS); plan mandatory education and professional activities; participate in peer evaluations. Support departmental goals by adhering to national safety standards and service-excellence benchmarks; pursue further education and certifications as appropriate. Collaborate with team members and escalate issues when needed; model professional behavior and teamwork. Exemplary Professional Practice: Use patient and family data to complete assessments and care plans within identified timeframes; demonstrate advanced clinical skills for complex patients. Prioritize and organize care for rapidly changing patient needs; document in alignment with high standards of practice; plan education for patients and families throughout hospitalization and at discharge. Demonstrate caring in all patient and family interactions and strive to improve patient satisfaction. Safety: Speak up about unsafe behavior, verify information for decisions, and resolve uncertainties promptly. Maintain clear and timely verbal and written communication; promote safety for patients, families, visitors, and coworkers. Attend to important details and use Stop-Think-Act-Review to self-check performance. Organizational Accountabilities & Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve operations through quality improvement and evidence-based practice; pursue self-learning and professional development; share knowledge to enhance care quality. Minimum Education : BSN (Graduated from an approved school of nursing). (Preferred) Minimum Work Experience : 1 year RN experience (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge : Successful completion of hospital and nursing orientation at Children’s National; keep knowledge current with changes in the specialty area. Required Licenses and Certifications : Registered Nurse license in the District of Columbia; RN license in DC, Maryland, or Virginia depending on location of practice; CPR certification.
