Role Purpose: As an Assistant Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting the Estimating Department with project estimates, bid deliverables, quantity takeoffs, and constructability reviews. This entry-level position is ideal for those looking to grow their career in construction estimating.
Responsibilities
Perform quantity takeoffs across all construction divisions.
Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for materials and labor by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and RFPs.
Review and understand contract language, project scope, and client expectations.
Conduct outreach to subcontractors to increase bid participation for projects.
Collaborate with architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to improve cost efficiencies and address constructability concerns.
Distribute and manage project plans, specifications, and related information to ensure requirements are met.
Select and manage subcontractors during the preconstruction phase.
Track actual project costs compared to estimates and historical data to assess cost-effectiveness.
Develop detailed scope sheets for bid leveling.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Building Construction preferred (relevant experience or formal education may substitute for a degree).
1-3 years of experience in commercial construction project estimating.
Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (Procore or similar), takeoff software (On-Screen or similar), estimating software (Timberline, Destini, or similar), and BlueBeam.
