Healthcare Shares is a Healthcare Venture Capital fund investing across digital health, AI clinical tools, virtual care, remote diagnostics, care-navigation platforms, specialty care innovation, population health, and healthcare infrastructure. We are forming a cohort of Internal Medicine Physician Advisors within our broader multidisciplinary clinical advisory network to ensure that investment decisions reflect real-world care complexity, chronic disease management needs, safety standards, and scalable primary–specialty coordination.
Role Overview Internal Medicine Physician Advisors will support our venture diligence process by evaluating startups through the lens of longitudinal care, chronic disease progression, multi-comorbidity management, payer alignment, medication adherence, and primary–specialty integration. While our investments span the entire digital health landscape, internists play a central role in analyzing whether innovation improves total-cost-of-care, patient retention, care continuity, and real-world clinical workflows.
Core Responsibilities • Conduct medical review of digital health startups focused on chronic disease management, primary care enablement, polypharmacy optimization, remote monitoring, virtual clinics, AI decision support, and predictive analytics • Validate clinical claims, regulatory pathways, evidence strength, usability, risk stratification logic, and patient adherence feasibility • Support due diligence by assessing scalability, reimbursement appropriateness, utilization risk, chronic care models, and value-based care alignment • Advise portfolio companies on workflow integration, comprehensive care plans, escalation protocols (heart failure, diabetes, COPD, CKD), and cross-specialty referral coordination • Collaborate alongside specialty advisors (cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, behavioral health, geriatrics) to ensure comprehensive medical evaluation and care-continuity alignment • Identify emerging trends across digital chronic care management, AI-supported diagnosis, hybrid primary care platforms, remote therapeutics, pharmacy innovation, social determinants of health, and home-based care models
Ideal Qualifications • Board-certified Internal Medicine Physicians with 5+ years of clinical practice experience (ambulatory or inpatient IM welcomed) • Understanding of chronic disease pathways, multi-condition risk management, medication reconciliation, care coordination logistics, and value-based payment models • Experience with digital health, EHR workflows, population health tools, or remote monitoring platforms preferred • Ability to translate real-world internal medicine insights into investment decision frameworks and market readiness evaluations • Interest in innovation, healthcare transformation, and commercialization pathways for chronic care technologies
