Join Caltrans District 3 as a Senior Transportation Engineer. The position is located in
111 Grand Ave, Oakland, Alameda County . Salary ranges from $11,437.00 - $14,315.00 per month. Final filing date: 12/18/2025.
Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Supervising Transportation Engineer of the Office of Design South, Special Projects, the incumbent carries out duties associated with all phases of the project development process. This includes directing the engineering staff, maintaining communication with project team members, consultants, Division of Structures, and Headquarters units. Tasks include early preliminary review, environmental and design studies, and completion of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E). The incumbent assigns, schedules, directs, and supervises work within assigned squads, assigns projects to staff, and guides staff on proper use of design standards and project development policies. The role ensures high‑quality transportation projects are completed for a variety of highway projects—large complex, intermediate, Minor A/B, and Toll Bridge Rehabilitation.
The incumbent ensures projects are developed in accordance with Caltrans project development process and engineering practices. Responsibilities include coordination and review of highway planning studies and development of PS&E.
Special Requirements
Valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers (PE License).
Valid and unrestricted Class C driver’s license.
Statement of Qualification (SOQ) required. The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages, 12‑point Arial font.
