Position Summary The Systems Engineer will maintain the performance, availability, and reliability of SDCCU’s information technology infrastructure, supporting both employees and customers. The role ensures high‑quality service and production standards as defined by the organization.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

6+ years supporting applications and systems in a production environment, preferably in SaaS or financial settings.

Advanced experience with Microsoft Windows Server administration and Active Directory environments.

Fundamental understanding of at least one virtualization platform (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM).

Fundamental understanding of at least one storage operating system (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage).

Basic knowledge of the OSI model and network communication layers.

Ability to work independently and accomplish assigned tasks.

Strong organizational and multi‑tasking skills.

Effective verbal and written communication, with project management and process orientation.

Comfortable in a process‑oriented, change‑controlled environment.

Team player who can coach and present to non‑technical audiences, including customers.

Solution‑oriented and constructive problem‑solving approach.

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline OR 6+ years of experience plus an engineer‑level certification (e.g., MCSE, VCP).

Desired Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

Familiarity with VMware on HCI.

Knowledge of AIX, Dell EMC, or Pure Storage solutions.

Experience with Linux system administration.

Proficiency in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Bash, Python).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Design, configure, and manage servers, operating systems, and storage arrays.

Configure Active Directory environments.

Conduct capacity planning for compute, storage, and virtualization.

Deploy and manage virtual machines and existing systems.

Maintain hyper‑converged infrastructure supporting Windows and Linux.

Monitor security and performance; troubleshoot issues logically.

Operate server, storage, backup systems and disaster recovery processes.

Remediate vulnerabilities across infrastructure.

Develop monitoring and observability strategies.

Document system configurations and processes.

Learn and automate unknown network and operating systems.

Manage and facilitate technical projects and tasks.

Participate in Agile methodologies and engineering principles.

Research and recommend innovative solutions.

Operations and Support

Perform daily system monitoring, verify hardware, server resources, system logs, and scheduled jobs.

Provide Tier III and advanced support to engineering and operational departments.

Offer escalated support during normal and after‑business hours for branch offices.

Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues.

Train operational departments with documented processes and procedures.

Maintenance

Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly; update administrative tools.

Upgrade and configure system software to meet operational needs.

Maintain network devices, storage arrays, and servers during approved windows.

Perform performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and systems optimization.

Maintain datacenter environment and monitoring equipment.

Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.

Administer systems and software licensing.

Maintain and draft operational, configuration, and procedural documentation.

Participate in AML/BSA compliance training and adhere to policy and procedures.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

Perform duties as assigned.

Provide after‑hours support within SLAs.

Occasional travel.

Physical Demands and Work Environment Employees are required to use their hands for handling objects, tools, and controls; they must also talk and hear. Typically, the role requires standing, reaching, walking, sitting, climbing, or balancing. Occasionally, employees must lift or move up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Noise levels are usually moderate.

Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Full‑time – 40 hours a week.
