Position Overview Join our exceptional team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and attending physicians at Henry Ford St. John Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center. We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a contingent, inpatient-only orthopedic surgery position. The role offers 10‑hour shifts in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with exposure to a wide range of orthopedic cases. Responsibilities include inpatient rounding, postoperative care, and working closely with APPs and attending physicians to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
Schedule & Requirements
Schedule:
10‑hour day shifts, variable days; contingent period includes every 4th weekend.
Weekend requirement:
Yes, every 4th weekend.
Call requirement:
No call requirement.

General Summary of Duties As the first‑line provider, the NP/PA will assess, diagnose, treat, educate, and coordinate care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting. Work will involve collaboration with attending physicians, consultants, nurses, and other team members to achieve safe and efficient patient outcomes.
Qualifications
NP: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner training program (CCNE or NLNAC).
PA: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program (ARC‑PA).
State certification: NP must be certified by a state‑recognized body; PA must hold NCCPA certification.
Current Michigan licensure for NP or PA (or processing application).
National certification: ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
DEA/CSL certification required through credentialing.
Experience
Minimum 1 year of APP experience, preferably in orthopedics.
EPIC EMR experience is preferred.
Skills
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Commitment to patient‑centered care and continuous professional development.
