Job Summary The Senior Estimator – Interior Systems will support the estimating duties for Hoffman Specialty Contracting, Inc. (HSC). The role reports to senior HSC leadership and collaborates with HSC Operations, Project Teams, and the Estimating Department. The estimator oversees estimating for commercial wall and ceiling assemblies, interior systems, cleanroom interiors, and manufacturing interiors for HSC, and reviews and mentors other estimators.

Responsibilities

Estimate self‑perform scopes of work for commercial, high‑tech, cleanroom, and manufacturing interior projects, including metal stud framing, insulation, drywall, finishing, ceiling systems, rough carpentry/blocking, plaster, and other interior systems scopes.

Review and mentor other estimators, providing guidance on best practices, accuracy, and efficiency.

Perform on‑screen takeoff of material quantities.

Perform contract administration for secured projects, including buy‑out and hand‑off to the HSC Operations Team.

Collaborate with the management team in creating final estimates for project budgets.

Work with the HSC Operations Team throughout the preconstruction process: review plans, specifications, procedures, timelines, and construction requirements; identify constructability issues.

Establish labor productivities for estimates and staffing requirements for each construction phase.

Maintain the estimating cost database to ensure up‑to‑date costs.

Assist during Conceptual, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents phases of projects.

Solicit subcontractor pricing for work outside our self‑perform group.

Perform additional duties as assigned, such as change order management or billings, depending on the project(s).

Qualifications, Skills, And Abilities

High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent required.

A minimum of four (4) years’ commercial construction estimating experience required.

Specific experience in commercial, healthcare, industrial, water treatment, and/or hi‑tech types of projects required.

Interior systems estimating experience strongly preferred.

Project Management experience preferred.

Personnel management experience preferred.

Experience collaborating with representatives of trade union preferred.

Physical And Mental Requirements

Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is a combination of being stationary and moving about the work location.

Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.

Must be able to climb stairs, to ascend and descend ladders, scaffold, inspect confined or underground spaces.

Hands/Arms: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.

Lifting: Ability to lift or manipulate fifty pounds to a height of three feet and carry or push it 50‑100 feet.

Speech: Ability to communicate laws, ordinances, plans, regulations, protocols, directives, and standard operating procedures related to project scope in English.

Work schedule must be flexible to allow for extended hours or off‑shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
