Nakamura Laboratory – Part Time Junior Specialist Position Join the University of California, San Francisco’s Department of Radiation Oncology. The Nakamura Laboratory seeks a motivated scientist interested in human cognition and human-based studies for a part-time junior specialist role.

Position Overview As a part-time junior specialist, you will work on translational research projects focusing on human cognitive function, developing innovative brain imaging approaches, and analyzing molecular biomarkers to study predictors of memory function in adult research subjects. You will assist with study coordination as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes oncologists, neurologists, radiologists, post‑doctoral fellows, and graduate students.

Responsibilities

Assist with coordinating the collection of blood sample tubes from participating study subjects.

Process blood samples for subsequent genetic and protein analysis.

Handle human blood samples and perform laboratory processing steps to isolate DNA and other molecules.

Maintain accurate records, inventory of samples, and prepare progress reports.

Qualifications

BS or BA in a STEM major (strongly preferred).

Prior laboratory experience (preferred).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salary See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000–$58,600.
