Team Overview The Healthcare Industry Group (HIG), a subsidiary of A&M, is at the forefront of delivering transformational change to the healthcare industry. Known as an established leader that delivers tangible results for healthcare executives, boards, private equity firms, investors, law firms and government agencies, our professionals advise organizations on financial and operational performance improvement, strategic growth, and unlocking value across the investment lifecycle. Our team provides additional expertise in interim management, restructuring, revenue cycle management, mergers and acquisitions, compliance and regulatory, digital technology and analytics. You will have the opportunity to work with clients in a range of sectors including health systems and providers, physician groups, ancillary providers, medical schools, vision, laboratory, dental and behavioral health; managed care and health plans; government plans and programs; healthcare investors and lenders; medical devices; healthcare suppliers and infrastructure; and life sciences. HIG’s Healthcare Services practice (HCS), with offices throughout the US, focuses on serving private‑equity firm portfolio companies and public and private healthcare companies. HCS services include performance improvement/operational turnarounds, cost optimization, M&A services, finance operations and interim management (including CFO services).

Core Services

Technology Assessment: Review and analysis of platform, data and system architectures, applications, integrations, infrastructure, processes, data governance, BI, security, IT teams and related risks to identify value opportunities.

Performance Improvement/Operational Turnaround: Interim management or advisory roles to assess businesses and identify performance impediments quickly.

Cost Optimization: Cross‑functional approach to identify high‑impact opportunities for EBITDA and cash‑flow improvements across the entire cost structure.

M&A Services: Support throughout the M&A lifecycle, including due diligence, integration planning and execution, and divestiture and carve‑out planning.

Finance Operations: Improve finance operations, including management reporting and month‑end close processes.

Interim Management: On‑demand interim roles (CEO, COO, CFO, CIO) to drive change while a full‑time replacement is recruited.

How You Will Contribute

Identify and implement opportunities to reduce cost structure by redesigning technology and operations org structures, eliminating redundant applications or IT vendor engagements, and streamlining non‑value‑added processes.

Optimize overall technology stack (systems, applications, data, security, team) to drive top‑line and bottom‑line improvement and inform board and C‑level decisions.

Develop IT synergy models, one‑time‑cost profiles, TSA and carve‑out considerations pre‑deal (M&A) and execute integrations and post‑deal value creation.

Guide clients through crisis or quick‑fix solutions by structuring and executing performance improvement plans.

Develop operational data analysis to create KPI metrics and track meaningful change; conduct client interviews to evaluate operations.

Synthesize large data sets or analyses into actionable recommendations.

Lead work streams, manage day‑to‑day engagement priorities with guidance from senior leaders.

Prepare client‑ready deliverables and presentations; make presentations to clients.

Coach and mentor junior staff formally and informally.

Build relationships with clients and seek opportunities to expand business scope.

Support marketing initiatives and assist in pitch preparation and marketing material creation.

Help build product and service offering tools and templates.

Qualifications

High energy, passion for healthcare, and ability to solve complex issues.

12+ years of experience in healthcare, consulting, or healthcare industry—such as healthcare banking, accounting, audit, private equity, or operations—with a healthcare IT focus.

Experience in acquisition, integration and transformation from an IT deal perspective.

Experience in clinical application domains (e.g., EMR/EHR, practice management) and/or medical‑technology manufacturing applications (e.g., MES, QMS, inventory management).

Experience in corporate functional domains (HRIS, ERP/Finance, cloud stack).

Advanced analytics and reporting skills.

Advanced Excel proficiency and financial modeling experience required.

Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel; experience with Visio, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, SPSS, and benchmarking a plus.

Solid project management and organizational skills.

Working knowledge of healthcare finance, operations, valuation and applicable laws and regulations.

Sound judgment and ability to elevate project issues.

Ability to coach and mentor junior staff.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to all levels of client personnel.

Willingness and ability to travel as required.

BA/BS degree (MBA or MS in Accounting, Finance, MHA, MPH, or related healthcare fields).

Benefits & Remuneration Regular employees working 30+ hours per week are eligible for Alvarez & Marsal Holdings’ fringe benefits, including healthcare plans, flexible spending accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverage, subject to eligibility requirements. A&M provides a 401(k) retirement plan with discretionary contributions. Salary for this role ranges from $160,000 to $180,000, with a discretionary bonus program based on performance.
