Responsibilities Training & Personal Development
Complete the accelerated program, including all certifications required for the Store Manager role.
Attend and finish classroom, online, and on‑job training; complete assigned rotations and learning objectives in different stores.
Follow individual development plans, participate in one‑on‑one conversations with the Store Manager and District Manager, and demonstrate readiness for permanent assignment.
Seek self‑development by monitoring performance, setting high personal standards, learning retail, pharmacy, and management practices.
Learn and implement compliance SOPs across front‑end and pharmacy; gain knowledge of all computer and technology systems.
Obtain the required pharmacy technician registration/licensure and pursue PTCB certification as required.
Customer Experience
Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance.
Resolve complaints promptly and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
Model and share customer service best practices.
Monitor service, provide coaching, training, and develop improvement plans for both front‑end and pharmacy.
Support the Store Manager in observing trends, analyzing feedback, and improving service metrics.
Operations
Shadow the Store Manager, supervise store operations and team members, and learn opening/closing, shift changes, and task delegation.
Supervise merchandising tasks, including sets, resets, and promotional displays.
Help protect store assets by administering loss prevention programs and monitoring electronic surveillance.
Analyze inventory trends and supervise inventory management, ensuring SOP compliance for receiving, pricing, and returns.
Maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in sales of alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy products.
Ensure team safety and well‑being; utilize the Security Operations Center.
Adhere to company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and partners.
Complete special assignments and assist team members as needed.
Business Performance Management
Analyze financial and performance data; develop action plans to improve results.
Identify sales opportunities to grow the store and pharmacy.
Review asset‑protection data and develop loss‑reduction plans.
Prepare daily and weekly performance reports for discussion with the Store Manager and District Manager.
Collaborate with Pharmacy Manager (or Pharmacy Operations Manager) to enhance pharmacy performance.
Business Planning
Work with the Store Manager to understand key inventory metrics and processes.
Help grow business through initiatives such as community outreach and retail partnerships.
People & Performance Management
Learn all aspects of people management, including training and coaching on SOPs.
Use Walgreens’ HR and people‑management systems to supervise team members.
Shadow performance conversations, understand criteria, and apply discipline and improvement plans when necessary.
Understand company policy and all relevant laws related to recruitment, retention, and training.
Leverage team strengths to increase engagement, solve problems, and adapt to changes.
Communications
Shadow and attend all critical communication sessions, such as one‑on‑one discussions and group meetings.
Assist in planning and attending community events.
Facilitate team discussions around operational and engagement metrics.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of retail management experience, or High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years of retail management experience.
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and extended days.
Willingness to accept assignment to a Store Manager position if offered.
Willingness to transfer to other Walgreens retail assets within the same hiring area.
Preferred Qualifications
PTCB certification.
Bachelor’s degree.
Managerial experience in a Retail Store/Hospitality Manager or Assistant Manager role, with people leadership, business management, and customer‑facing experience.
