I and C Engineer - Intermediate (Data Centers)
Join us at Jacobs as an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer. This role focuses on designing, optimizing, and implementing control systems for cutting‑edge industrial, commercial, and data center facilities across the United States. You will work on a multi‑disciplinary team, collaborating with architects and engineers to develop P&IDs, size valves, specify instrumentation, and model design information while ensuring compliance with building codes and industry standards.
Base pay range $69,500.00/yr – $95,500.00/yr
Responsibilities
Develop and document detailed P&IDs, system schematics, and control logic.
Size valves, design control loops, and specify instrumentation for processes.
Validate design compliance with building codes, ASHRAE, NEC, and other industry standards.
Coordinate design activities with project managers, consultants, and field personnel.
Assist with commissioning and start‑up activities, troubleshooting and resolving system issues on site.
Provide technical expertise during project execution, including review of vendor and contractor deliverables.
Contribute to process optimization, performance studies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Systems Engineering.
Minimum 2 years of experience in instrumentation and controls for industrial or data‑center applications.
Knowledge of DDC, PLC, DCS, and control application design preferred.
Engineer in Training (EIT) status or willingness to obtain licensure.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Analytical, problem‑solving, and multi‑tasking abilities.
Team‑oriented mindset with willingness to collaborate across disciplines.
Passion for building science, sustainability, and advanced process technology.
