Job Description:

Pay Range: $22.24hr - $24hr

Responsibilities:

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, record maintenance data, perform decontamination, and update patient information.
  • Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
  • Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients.
  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
  • Understand and follow all physician orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Verify test requisitions or computer labels for accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport according to protocol.
  • Store specimens at required temperatures and ensure proper labeling.
  • Follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department training sessions.
  • Answer phone calls and communicate laboratory results when required.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by the state of employment.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 4 years of relevant experience.
Experience:
  • Phlebotomy experience (1.5 years preferred).
  • Experience performing phlebotomy on all types of patients, including difficult (hard stick) cases.
  • Experience with specimen types such as urine and thyroid testing.
  • Computer skills, data entry, and processing experience.
Should Have:
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage hard sticks and challenging draws.
