Recruiter - Accounting & Professional Services We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated
Staff Accountant
to join our team in Bethesda, MD. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to grow their accounting skills within a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and reports are accurate.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice review, expense coding, and payment preparation.
Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Support the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
Maintain organized documentation and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Assist with budget tracking, audit preparation, and other financial projects as assigned.
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and provide financial guidance when needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1–3 years of accounting experience (internships included); experience in a corporate or nonprofit environment is a plus.
Solid understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Deltek, or similar) is preferred.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
