Position Summary The

RN Nurse Manager – Operating Room

is responsible for overseeing all operations of the Operating Room, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care, patient safety, and team performance. This leader manages OR staffing, workflow, performance metrics, quality initiatives, and compliance for a busy perioperative environment. The Nurse Manager ensures delivery of high‑quality nursing care and collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia, perioperative leadership, and hospital administration. This is a 24/7 accountable leadership role reporting to perioperative leadership.

Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership

Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Operating Room, ensuring smooth, efficient surgical workflows.

Oversee staffing, scheduling, assignments, and resource allocation for clinical team members.

Ensure consistent delivery of high‑quality, safe patient care aligned with Magnet® standards.

Clinical & Quality Oversight

Maintain compliance with hospital policies, state/national guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance surgical outcomes, patient experience, and OR efficiency.

Participate in audits, performance reviews, and accreditation activities.

Team Management & Development

Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff, Charge RNs, and support roles.

Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, conflict resolution, and corrective actions as needed.

Promote a culture of collaboration, respect, and professional growth.

Administrative Responsibilities

Manage budgets, equipment needs, inventory, and departmental expenditures.

Ensure adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and evidence‑based standards.

Support strategic planning, policy development, and department‑level initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).

Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License.

BLS (American Heart Association).

Minimum 5 years of direct RN experience in an acute‑care hospital.

Minimum 5 years of hands‑on Operating Room nursing experience.

Minimum 3 years of leadership experience

(Charge RN, Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Manager).

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN)

or related field.

Prior experience in a Magnet‑designated or high‑volume surgical environment.
