Controls / Automation Engineer
Duration: Contract
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Controls / Automation Engineer to support the design, development, programming, testing, and validation of automated systems used in a regulated manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise with Rockwell Automation platforms, vision systems, and motion control, along with hands‑on experience in equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
Key Responsibilities
Develop, program, and troubleshoot Rockwell Automation PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000).
Design, configure, integrate, and optimize machine vision systems, especially Cognex or Keyence.
Implement and fine‑tune Rockwell motion control solutions (including Kinetix drives and motion modules).
Create, execute, and document IQ/OQ/PQ protocols to support equipment qualification and validation.
Support system commissioning, FAT/SAT, and field troubleshooting during deployment.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing engineering teams.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation—schematics, test plans, work instructions, and user manuals.
Ensure all automation systems comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands‑on proficiency in Rockwell PLC programming (Studio 5000).
Experience working with Cognex or Keyence vision systems.
Knowledge and experience with Rockwell motion control technologies.
Working understanding of IQ/OQ/PQ processes for equipment validation in regulated environments.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control system documentation.
Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced engineering setting.
Strong communication skills with the ability to create clear technical documentation.
