Professor of the Practice – Mechanical Engineering Department
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment type: Full‑Time, Regular
Salary: $125,000 – $175,000
Start: July 2026 (Three‑year renewable limited‑term appointment)
Responsibilities
Coordinate and lead the Senior Capstone course, managing a team of instructors.
Engage industry partners to solicit projects and secure financial support.
Organize and curate projects to provide meaningful experiences for students.
Oversee course operations, mentor student teams, and collaborate with faculty on curriculum and assessment committees.
Qualifications
Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles with experience in product design and/or manufacturing engineering.
Experience in industrial settings and strong connections to industry for real‑world capstone projects.
Desirable teaching experience in mechanical engineering courses, outreach, mentoring, or training of students or colleagues.
Skills
Ability to forge industry partnerships and secure well‑funded project budgets.
Strong organizational skills to manage a multi‑faceted program and meet deadlines.
Exceptional communication skills with students, faculty, and industry partners.
Commitment to student success and the integration of engineering analysis and design.
Prior teaching, advising, or mentoring experience.
