What You’ll Do For Our Patients

Collaborate with medical providers and medical assistants in patient care management and communication.

Provide X‑ray services, applying ionizing radiation safely for diagnosis or treatment of patients across all age groups.

Job Description The Radiologic Technologist works with medical providers and/or medical assistants to perform examinations and treatments for patients at UCSF‑GoHealth Urgent Care. This role includes performing and analyzing patient X‑rays, reporting results to providers, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the centers.

Job Requirements

Education:

High school diploma required; graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.

Work Experience:

Experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire (ARC or AHA).

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required.

State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required (if applicable).

Essential Functions

Perform X‑ray services for patients of all ages, ensuring correct positioning and protection.

Coordinate patient flow and provide patient education and support.

Maintain equipment, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance; submit repair tickets as needed.

Patient Preparation and Rooming

Inform staff of patient flow.

Conduct interviews to verify patient information, record medical history, and confirm the purpose of the visit.

Perform basic vital signs and conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed.

Escalate critical cases to provider.

Administrative

Maintain medical records, scan charts, and document all procedures.

Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up.

Perform daily equipment calibration and document quality assurance logs.

Other Responsibilities Include

Collaborate with providers to determine appropriate imaging views.

Explain procedures to patients and address questions.

Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.

Adopt ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.

Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures.

Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists.

Knowledge

Understanding of X‑ray procedures, protocols, anatomy, and body mechanics.

Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards.

Skills

Patient positioning and equipment problem identification.

Compliance with infection control and radiation safety protocols.
