Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants in the examination and treatment of UCSF‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The role involves performing and analyzing x‑rays, reporting results to providers, and providing administrative support for efficient operation.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Medical Providers and Assistants on patient care management, organization, and communication.
Provide technical judgment to apply x‑ray energy for diagnosis or treatment across all age groups.
Position and protect patients during x‑ray services; assist in patient transport if needed.
Prepare patients for examination, verify information, record medical history, and take vital signs.
Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed.
Maintain medical records, scan charts, and perform data entry.
Perform daily equipment controls, calibrations, QA/QC logs, and preventive maintenance; submit repair tickets.
Collaborate with ordering providers to determine optimal imaging views and procedures.
Explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and safety.
Maintain radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA principles.
Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma required.
Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Red Cross or American Heart Association) required at hire.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at hire.
State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required (if applicable).
Essential Functions
Perform x‑ray services as needed.
Apply x‑ray energy under provider direction for all age groups.
Ensure patients are correctly positioned and protected.
Assist patient transport when required.
Other Responsibilities
Support clinic operations and engage with the medical team.
Explain procedures and maintain patient comfort.
Accurately position patients and equipment.
Adjust radiographic controls for clear images.
Maintain equipment and manage supplies.
Adhere to radiation safety protocols.
Accurate documentation of all procedures.
Verify image quality and appropriate transmission.
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of x‑ray procedures, protocols, anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics.
Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards.
Patient positioning and equipment troubleshooting skills.
Infection control and radiological safety adherence.
